Or 9×22mm as its informal name) is a rimless handgun cartridge developed by Swiss-German firearms manufacturer SIG Sauer. in collaboration with a manufacturer of federal premium ammunition The cartridge is used by many law enforcement agencies.

The .357 SIG uses automatic cases necked down 10mm in addition to specialized competition calibers such as the 9×25mm Dillon (1988), which chambers the 10mm AUTO down to the 9mm cartridge. Then the .357 SIG (1994) was the first modern commercial pistol caliber since the early 1960s that the Winchester Introduced a .257 caliber cartridge based on the now obsolete .256 Winchester Magnum (1960). Th Remington unsuccessfully introduced the .22 Remington Jet (1961), which downsized the .357 Magnum. only .22 and .221 Remington Fireball (1963), a shortened version of the .222 Remington.

Magnum Vs 10mm

Due to cost The effective .357 SIG ammunition costs about twice as much as the 9mm and about 50% more than the .40 S&W, so the .357 SIG never gained the same widespread acceptance as the .40 S&W.

This is because the cartridge was originally designed as a .357 (9.02mm) bullet, but this was quickly adapted to the .355 (9mm) bullet, according to the C.I.P. Internationale Permante Pour L'Epreuve Des Armes A Feu Portatives) 2008 revision, .357 SIG headspaces on case mouth (H2).

However, the cartridge and chamber drawings in the ANSI/SAAMI American National Standards clearly show the opening of the cartridge head at the mouth of the case.

According to the C.I.P. Judgment, the .357 SIG can handle piezo pressures up to 305 MPa (44, 236 psi). Proven at 130% of this maximum C.I.P. pressure to validate sales to consumers.

Sig 125gr Full Metal Jacket

While using the neck-down 10mm case to accept 0.355-inch (9.0mm) bullets, the .357 SIG cartridge case is slightly longer than the .40 S&W, 0.23mm to 0.020-inch. (0.51mm) overall .. most S&W .40 revolvers can be converted to .357 SIG by changing the barrel. But sometimes the recoil spring also needs to be replaced. Handguns with super-strong recoil springs can accept whether or not the cartridge is barreled. The magazine will switch freely between the two cartridges in most revolvers. .357 SIG barrel kits have made this cartridge popular among handgun owners.

The table below lists typical performance parameters for many .357 SIG loads. Bullet weights range from 115 to 150 grains (7.5 to 9.7 grams), load weights from 488 ft-lbs (662 J) to 583 ft-lbs (790 J). and offers penetration depths ranging from 9 in. (230 mm) to over 16.5 in. (420 mm) for a variety of applications and risk assessments. Note: Underwood now also offers a standard pressure of 65 gr. .357 SIG Xtreme Defder (XD) with a muzzle velocity of 2100 fps, a muzzle range of 636 foot pounds and a penetration depth of 17.5 inches.

For handgun ammunition, the .357 SIG has an unusually flat trajectory. However, it is not as effective as .357 Magnum with bullets heavier than 125 grains (8.1 g). Ridge

Virginia State Police reported that the attack dogs were stopped dead in their tracks by a single bullet. Whereas the earlier 9mm 147 rounds required multiple rounds to incapacitate the animal.

Things To Know About .357 Sig

Hydrostatic shock theory asserts that the impulse contained in the .357 SIG is sufficient for delivering a hydrostatic shock to a well-designed ammunition.

The “Correct Powder” reloading guide claims to be “without a doubt the most loaded handgun barrel we have ever used.”

The goal of the .357 SIG program is to provide the same level of performance as the highly efficient 125-grain (8.1 g) .357 Magnum load.

Measurements of a standard factory .357 SIG shell loaded with 125-grain (8.1 g) bullets show a muzzle velocity of approximately 1,450 feet per second (440 m/s) from a 4-inch (102 mm) barrel, which is by Basically the same, with .357 Magnum bullet weight and barrel lgth the same.

Glock G29 10mm Pistol Review

These measurements were performed with a Thompson Seeter 1842 assault rifle, a single-shot pistol/rifle. Prevent different lgth caliber definitions between semi-automatic handguns and revolvers in order to give the revolver a muzzle velocity advantage.

According to simple physics The shrinkage is directly proportional to According to the "muzzle velocity × bullet mass" (due to preserving momentum) recoil of the .357 SIG is equal to or slightly less than that of the .40 S&W, and even less. More than a full power 10mm Autoload or the original .357 Magnum.

This simple method of recoil is incomplete because bullet properties alone do not determine the feel of recoil. But also the explosion of bullet-like gases coming out of the barrel after the bullet has left the muzzle.

A more precise aspect of recoil is proportional to ejection mass × ejection velocity.

In 1994, Sig introduced the P229 pistol, the first production pistol chambered in .357 SIG and specifically designed to handle the higher pressures of that round.

The ability to carry more ammunition per magazine (9mm vs. .357 SIG) in lighter guns is one of the reasons for the change.

That change was suspended after the A-2014 class recruits, the first cohort training. With S&W M&P polymer 9mm pistols, there were a number of issues with those weapons.

The newer version of the SIG Sauer P229 in .357 SIG is used by agts and officers of the following national and state law enforcement (LEOs): Wait a minute, the Glock 20 chambered in 10mm Auto is not. Or what does the .357 SIG have to do with the Glock 20? I'm glad you asked! The Glock 20 is awesome. But you can have more fun with the "G20" by adding inexpensive magazines for various cartridges. With my Glock 20, I can fire 10mm Auto, 40 S&W and .357 SIG by simply swapping out the barrel. No other parts or modifications required! Moreover These tanks only cost $100 (for the Lone Wolf variety I'm using), so it doesn't take a lot of money to "extend the range of your Glock 20." I wrote about my experience with Lone Wolf. 40 S&W dropped in the caliber. Now it's time to use the .357 SIG caliber!

My journey of loading and firing the .357 SIG was familiar: excited, prepared, then waited to explore this new cart. while this project is running I saw an email in the discussion group: 2000 single-shot SIG .357 brass: Clean and headstamp intact. This is exactly what I was looking for and was the "nerd" needed to keep this project going. Soon I'll be shooting a .357 SIG for the first time: with my own hands.

Above you can see my Glock 20SF with a factory 10mm Auto caliber, a Lone Wolf 20357N .357 SIG caliber-converted (front, left) and a Lone Wolf 2040N 40 S&W caliber-converted (front, right). Shoots that fit in a Glock 20 holster, but fires three different cartridges. This is a great setup!

.357 Glock Ammo

The .357 Sig cartridge was designed and developed by SIG SAUER with the motive to replicate the 357 Magnum in a compact cartridge that easily adapts to most semi-automatic pistols. Starting with the 40 S&W* cartridge (more or less, see notes below), the mouth of the case necks down from the standard 40 caliber (0.400″) to accept 9mm (0.355″) rounds. It is similar to many "wildcat" rifle cartridges: neck down the case to accept a smaller diameter bullet that flies faster than the one from the modified parent cartridge. Sounds interesting right? I guess I'm obsessed with Naturally "abnormal," as you can imagine. I was excited to shoot and reload the new .357 SIG: It was definitely something different! I wanted to try using .400 Corbon ammunition, which is essentially a .45 ACP (which uses .451″ bullets) neck down to accept 40 caliber (.400″) bullets. "Cult following"

.45 glock ammo

.45 glock ammo

.45 Glock Ammo - Of all the .45 Auto semi-automatic pistol options, Glock certainly holds a respected position. Glock is known for reliable and simple designs, important factors for many shooters. Glock was able to mediate between those who wanted larger caliber ammunition in a pistol and those tired of only carrying 6 or 7 rounds in a magazine. This brings us to the firearm we are looking at for this review, the Glock 21.

Glock introduced the G21 SF (Short Frame) in 2007 to compete for a DOD contract. The contract did not end up landing, but the firearm gained traction among law enforcement and civilians due to the unique characteristics. Based on the Generation 3 Glock 21, the company made only a few modifications for this variant. We shot and operated the Glock 21 SF for this Glock 21 review.

.45 Glock Ammo

.45 Glock Ammo

Of the modifications seen in the Glock 21 SF, the most prominent (as the name suggests) is a smaller frame circumference. Not to be confused with frame width, the short frame provides less frame depth than the Gen 3 version of the Glock 21. This shorter frame depth allows those with smaller hands the opportunity for a adapted grip and access features. In the most recent generations (Gen 4), the grip length of the Glock 21 is almost identical to the G21 SF.

The Multi Caliber Glock Solution For Ammo Panics: Hail Hydra

As mentioned above, the Glock 21 SF is chambered in one of the "big boy" calibers: .45 ACP. Most shooters know the 45 ACP as a classic caliber, and many self-defense shooters still rely on the cartridge today.

Glock combines tradition with capability in the Glock 21 SF. A 13 + 1 capacity is offered on the Glock 21 SF, a seemingly reasonable number considering the size of the frame.

Another unique aspect of the Glock 21 SF is the inclusion of an ambidextrous magazine. While this feature is convenient, I felt that functionality was missing. I touch on this in more detail later in the review. Some of the Glock 21 SF frames were built with a Picatinny-style rail for mounting accessories; there aren't many yet and case compatibility is a concern.

Many of the Glock 21 SF variants that are available today come from police departments that have rotated out of service. These exchanges can be found for as little as $350-400 in some places, definitely a great deal.

When I got my hands on the G21, I quickly felt at home with it in my hands. I know not everyone prefers or even likes the Glock "experience", but as someone who owns and shoots Glocks, I feel comfortable. Some may even argue that Glock is an "acquired" taste, regardless of whether you like Glock ergonomics, the 21 SF feels good.

Although it is built for use by those with different hand sizes, the frame still has a fairly sturdy feel. I shoot a Glock 17 quite often and this frame provides more grip than the 17. While I'm not against the feel or size of the frame, I still had some issues accessing the magazine release. I'll touch more on this later when I get into the functional side of things.

My expectations of how this gun would handle recoil and overall performance were wrong. Based on the caliber, I expected a little more difficulty in those follow-up shots. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This gun handled well in my experience. The gun used every type of ammo I gave it without a problem. I was very impressed with the handling.

.45 Glock Ammo

Although the frame was comfortable, I wish it had more textured surfaces. Especially after shooting for a while or with sweat involved, the G21 SF started to feel light. The slide on the 21 SF felt like it had no front lock and seemed difficult to engage consistently. Some slide and lock stippling work would be a nice aftermarket addition.

Shooting the G21 SF provided great confidence in the hand, a confidence that grew when I realized that fast and accurate follow-up shots were very much possible. I did several drills with a zone C steel plate from about 15 meters while moving forward and sideways. The consistent shots and controllability I experienced with the Glock 21 made this gun very enjoyable to shoot.

Glocks aren't really known for great sights or factory triggers. They do the job and are usually nothing spectacular. My experience with the G21 SF matches every other Glock I've shot in this regard.

The white "U" shaped rear sight with a standard front post is found here on the G21 SF. I can get these sights well enough to feel pretty confident, but then again, I've used these sights before. If you buy one of these G21 SF (usually a police trade) be prepared to replace the sights for low light use. I know it comes down to preference, but the fiber optic front with dark rear options seems to work well for me.

My tests of the G21 SF trigger showed an average pull weight of 5.5 pounds using a Lyman trigger scale, which is pretty typical for a Glock trigger. I know many are really against these triggers. I've shot enough Glock pistols at this point that I don't really care.

Glock 37 .45 Gap Plus 1,000 Rounds Gold Dot Jhp

This particular trigger felt smoother than a normal Glock trigger. It may be due to his age and years of "rolling". Regardless, I enjoyed the smooth grip and sharp break. No real complaints from me here.

For the most part, the weapon is simple and straightforward. it is a Glock after all. I also noticed a few things about the functionality that were quite annoying - the ambidextrous magazine release being the first. I think Glock has compromised functionality here to fit DOD contract requirements.

The magazine design provided a much smaller footprint than the typical Glock magazine post. I ended up having to break the handle and rotate the frame to access this version. My hands are on the medium side of size. I was a little disappointed to struggle as much as I did to get the right angle for the magazine changes.

.45 Glock Ammo

The slide release also seemed to throw me off. While the design seemed to be on par with a normal Glock slide release, it didn't seem to function that way. It took extraordinary, precise pressure to get the slide release to move. I ended up manually dragging the slide for most of my shooting.

Calibers Of The Semiautomatic Handgun, The .45 Caliber

It may not be a bargain (and I know there are aftermarket slide release options), but I thought it was worth mentioning.

As part of my range testing with the Glock 21 SF, I used a Labradar doppler radar to get ballistics data. Using Speer Gold Dot 230 Gr. ammo, I fired 5 rounds with the Labrador running.

The average muzzle velocity for this test was 832 feet per second on the G21 SF. Speer advertises a muzzle velocity of 890 feet per second. Here's a closer look at the ammunition performance I recorded with the Glock 21.

The Glock 21 SF is clearly a tried and tested firearm that has seen years of duty use. With Glock available and aftermarket support, it's hard to go wrong with a firearm like this. Considering the price and the potential to find many used variants in good condition, the value seems high.

Glock G44: Firing Range Report

My experience with the G21SF exceeded my expectations in performance and I honestly want one now. It's not a perfect gun, but it has great potential to be branded with some simple modifications after my purpose. If you are looking for a well built, reliable .45 Auto, the Glock 21 SF may be for you. A new offering from Glock is quite an exciting pistol. The gun is not just a black 19X, but a new version of the Glock line. It is set up in a similar way to the Glock 19X, but differs in important details.

In some ways, the Glock 45 may be an improvement over the Glock 19X. It really depends on what you expect from a service gun. While they each share common parts and capabilities, the Glock 45 has features that I like. The Glock 19X was called the Glock-style Commander.

The Glock G45 continues in this tradition with a full-size grip and short grip, a Glock 17 frame coupling, and a Glock 19 slide and barrel. This seems to make for excellent handling. While the full-size grip allows for a good grip while drawing, the short slide quickly wears out the holster. The gun has upgrades from the Generation 5 Glock and some features unique to the G45.

.50 cal glock

.50 cal glock

.50 Cal Glock - The title makes it sound like the mad rage of a stupid prohibitionist, but .50 caliber Glocks are a reality. Guncrafter Industries makes conversion slides for the G21 and G41 to take the 50GI cartridge. The slide is a budget alternative to the last $4000 longslide 1911, Model 4. At $595-$660, it gets shooters into the 50GI caliber for slightly less than the 1911 route.

Ten rounds in a slightly full magazine or nine rounds in the same plane, this conversion reduces the capacity for more rounds per shot. The theory behind this round is simple: why spend some of the kinetic energy expanding the projectile when it can fire has been expanded?

.50 Cal Glock

.50 Cal Glock

The 50GI is a low-pressure caliber based on the classic .455 Webley model. At the same pressure as the 45ACP, it is easy on the shooter and gives just as fast follow-up shot, something not seen in 50AE or 50S & W. Developing ammunition has a nominal range of 185g at 1200 fps to 275g at 875 fps, and 300g JSP available for practice and animal piercing is difficult. At 700 fps, the 300g load is at the same power level as the 44 Special – a smooth, easy-to-shoot round that can be used quickly for doubles and triples when needed. Develop a bullet optimized for thin-skinned humanoid enemies, and 230-grain makes the hole run deep and almost an inch wide. The light for the 185 gr caliber stops at 9 inches, but makes a wider path. The actual chronographed velocity is very close to the 4.5-inch barrel and higher than the 5-inch to 6-inch barrel.

Glock 41 Gen 4 Semi Auto .45 Acp 5.31\

Full copper projectiles are effective enough to convert velocity into expansion without fragmenting or refolding the petals. Muzzle flash was minimal with all the loads I tried (185, 230, 275 and 300).

As you can see, the grooved rim allows for a 45ACP rear track. Magazines are easy to load with your fingers. Depending on the load, the degree of muzzle flip is minimal or slight, certainly similar to the 45ACP experience. The drawback of the Glock conversion compared to the excellent longslide 1911 is that it is reduced. My 9-shot groups at 10 meters were about 2.25 inches, while the 1911, with a longer sight radius and a longer trigger, printed 7-shot groups in an inch. Again, #4 in long slide, group size at ten yards less than full bullet size! With Glocks, it's not quite as good, although the difference is probably more ergonomic than the mechanics of the device.

Because 50GI ammo is expensive, it is thought that shooters primarily train with the same handling of 45ACP caps and carrying 50GI caps. Given the similarity of the shooting experience between the two calibers and the excellent reliability of the conversion, this is the correct approach. Unlike more energetic cartridges such as the 10mm Auto and 44Mag, the 50GI does not damage the shooter during training and spares unprotected hearing under subsonic loads.

Compared to stock Glock mags, the conversion leaves enough capacity, from 13 + 1 to 8 + 1. Each bullet increases the forehead area by about 22% before and after expansion. The choice is yours. Is it worth taking nine strong shots before reloading, or taking five more shots before a mag switch is needed?

Mck Gen 1

As you can see, a full barrel is available. Although they only add a small amount of speed, twisting the damper is an option. While the 50GI is currently only available from Guncrafter Industries, some handloading recipes allow it to run even less commonly. Fired brass can be used many times.

.45acp glock

.45acp glock

.45acp Glock - So, without much fanfare, I began exploring my first firearm with a service model Springfield XD. But when it came to the armory, I realized that there are many options. I got my hands on an OD Gen 3 G21 and fell in love but haven't bought one yet. Although my first pistol (through the first signature of the three, the other two being a G17 and a G22 gen 3), this old non-sf gen3 came home in black. The dry firing tungsten guide rod quickly confirmed that it was my choice and that Sig didn't offer enough or cheap enough at the time. After 2.5k miles it remains my favorite pistol, possibly my favorite firearm. For me, it's just that other models that are just finished, well designed, not enlarged or scaled down have always been the reason I chose the Glock and kept at it. The tungsten rod balances the light magazine loads and makes my drilling smoother.

It won't be good for me. I think the Glock 21 is the ultimate .45. While it's a little overbuilt (the same frame as the Glock 20 in 10mm), that's not necessarily a bad thing. The extra beef means you can fill the entire house with ammo all day. Concealed carry doesn't need to be long, and with the right holster system, you can carry it all day without major discomfort. Trust me. I have and it's not that big of a problem. The smaller the .45, the more the gun will bounce and the less accurate and consistent it will be. Any bigger and it becomes a concealed carry problem, at least for me. I plan to get another one with my next paycheck. Well, after 27 years of concealment, the .45 is still the best bolt action and the Glock is still the best pistol system I can think of. It's a worthy investment for protective transportation. Hope this helps.

.45acp Glock

.45acp Glock

Bought my second Glock 21. It's a lot easier than carrying a gun. It weighs less than a 1911 and holds more ammo. It can be easily hidden with the right holster. This is important food for thought. The smaller the gun, the higher it jumps. This leads to a control problem that can be solved with a larger gun that reduces recoil and promotes accuracy. Hope this helps.

The New Glock 45 Leaked... And It's Not A .45 Acp ...

After carrying the 21 daily for two weeks, I realized that this is not the problem that many people are talking about. At 28.26 ounces, it's about 11 ounces lighter than a full-size 1911 and about 8 ounces lighter than a Commander. It also carries more ammo. I bought a belt holster for it and with a good belt I've gotten to the point where I don't feel any tugging or tugging and I don't have to jiggle my pants all day. Although this is a large pistol, it is very well balanced and fills my hand well with the modular grip extension. Also, to reiterate, it's a bit overbuilt (about the same as 20 frames in 10mm), but that's not so bad when you realize it chews up and spits out +p ammo without a hitch.

Therefore. If you think of the 21 as a stealth gun, it's not bad at all. Just get a good holster and belt. Hope this helps.

I have had a Glock 21 for 3 years and put 1300 rounds through it with no problems. There is a tungsten guide rod assembly, a machined slide stop lever, and a clip to slide it over my belt in the small of my back. I have a Colt 1911 and while it is a good shooter, the Glock is my favorite. It breaks much easier than a 1911. However, you have to be careful when taking it to the camera. I caught my finger on the trigger once while belting it and probably would have blown my ass if it was in the chamber. I'm going to practice getting it out and I'm sure I'll be able to get it out quickly.

Worth every penny never regret the purchase but hey it's a glock so i love people who spend a lot on the 400 and every time a glock hits top dollar this 45 is perfect and it always performs like this

Glock G21 Gen4 13rd 45acp Stainless Steel Pvd Finish

You can easily hide it. I hide a shipping mine with a viridian laser and a +2 pier extension. Kathy Me How and Dara make beautiful holsters and concealment tools. A hidden tool is great in a trouser pocket.

I bought a Glock 21sf a year ago and put a lot of rounds through it. I love this gun and highly recommend it! This gun will not fail or go off. This is my daily carry on.

A great gun that isn't too much. Everything was chewed up in the first session. After checking the safety, some Gen 4s have to face down, pull the trigger, pull the side tabs, and pull the slide while cleaning. The burner is directed forward, and the slide must be placed back. Many Glock owners with the same problem. Internal security mechanisms should be dealt with. Wish it was in the manual or someone told me. No big deal. Excellent gun with great accuracy and reliability.

.45acp Glock

I just want to mention what a great gun this is. A slide deck is a silent point. Some guns require a key, some have a switch, and some have a handle. It has a relatively thick slide compared to other models, but the .45. The weight definitely absorbs the wheel. It feels a touch heavier than the 19. The trigger pull was typical for a Glock, but smooth with a nice click and recovery. It was a lot of fun to shoot. Big shots, loud noise, but easy to hold the target and get back on target. Another great gun. You will not be disappointed.

I have a G21 Gen 4 and I carry daily, I've never had one go wrong, I've always been an accurate shooter. If you're thinking about it, buy it, you won't regret it. I love that it's 13+1 and I have an extra magazine because it's nice to have and not have, not needed and shouldn't be. Glock G21SF 45 Auto (ACP) 4.61-Inch Black Nitride Pistol - 10+1 Rounds - The Glock G21SF pistol is relied upon by countless law enforcement units to become standard issue for this powerful, lightweight, all-climate workhorse. The SF model reduces the scope or "back strap" of the receiver at the rear to provide greater comfort and control, especially for shooters with smaller hands. Of all the .45 automatic semi-automatic pistol options, the Glock certainly deserves respect. Status Glock is known for its reliable and simple design - important factors for many shooters. Glock has been able to mediate between those who want a large caliber of ammo in their handgun and those who are tired of carrying only 6 or 7 rounds in a magazine. This brings us to the firearm we will be looking at in this review, the Glock 21.

Glock introduced the G21 SF (short frame) in 2007 to compete for the DOD contract. Contract landings were not completed, but the firearm gained traction among law enforcement agencies and civilians due to its unique features. Based on the 3rd generation Glock 21, the company made only a few changes to this version. For this Glock 21 review, we removed and ran a Glock 21 SF.

How Many Rounds Does A Glock Hold?

Among the changes seen in the Glock 21 SF, the most notable (as the name suggests) is a smaller frame circle. Not to be confused with frame width, a shallower frame provides more depth than a shorter frame
